What does Kveldsro mean?
Our hotel name is inspired by the old Norse word ‘kveldsro’ – pronounced kel-dro – which means “evening peace”. The setting is peaceful and inspiring, and from the hotel you can watch boats leaving Lerwick Harbour or admire the island of Bressay across the water. To help you find peace, why not enjoy a hot drink in the drawing room or sample a malt whisky, cocktail or Shetland beer in the bar?
Our location
Kveldsro House Hotel is situated in a quiet residential part of Lerwick. It is surrounded by characterful lanes leading down to the town and the natural harbour. Although you can feel a million miles away at our hotel you’re just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre and its choice of independent shops, bars and cafes, and, of course, the waterfront. Or head in the opposite direction to explore the wild headland of The Knab.
